Description:
Ever since our first release of the 79 FL heirloom skunk and 81 FL heirloom skunk a couple years ago they became a hit with breeders and growers alike. Both were clones that the old man we affectionately call him, that’s our company president said it’s time to let them loose in case something happens to us. By us he meant himself because he’s 75 and his sons also got health issues that are substantial. After these clones were kept for so many decades the decision was made to let them loose so they weren’t lost.
Fast forward and a few breeders larger than us that got the clones loved them and started breeding with them. Then other growers got them and found the skunk spray pheno.
Being were where they came from, the old man had a hand full of ‘81 FL heirloom skunk new old stock seeds that hadn’t been kept in ideal conditions over the decades that his son gambled on popping. Doing everything correctly, Junior ended up having to pressure pop (a last ditch effort that as long as the embryo in the seed is still alive it’ll pop out where it might not have the strength to do otherwise) those NOS 81 seeds. He made a video on IG doing it. Thankfully a portion of them did indeed pop out taproots after the pressure pop. Some were slow duds, some were wild mutants but a few were proper. Out of those there was one male that was ideal.
Taking this male junior then bred him to 79 and other strains to make sure he was viable and produced proper offspring (seeds/phenos). Finding out that yes indeed this male was viable and yes he did produce good crosses and yes did impart the 81 signature rotten ammonia natural gas stench he decided to pop as many of the Southern Super Skunk (79 x 81 male) as possible. Until he found a male that exhibited and passed on the 79 skunks traits with less of the 81 skunks traits.
That process took quite a while in the selections, since we do selective breeding. Once we nailed down the 79 x 81 male that was mostly 79 skunks traits, he was used to pollinate the 79 FL heirloom skunk clone only. Which theoretically is a BX (back cross), but we sent the seeds up to our Michigan facility with the stacked class c licenses (high plant count) to test to see if the phenos actually came out as 79 skunk dominant. After running over 120 seeds, that facility said yes they’re both male and female 79 skunk dominant phenos. Which to us isn’t a theoretical BX, it’s an actual BX. Since you can make a BX but if the phenos don’t come out in regular sex, dominant to the mother, that’s not a BX to us.
This was a true ‘79 FL Heirloom Skunk BXl (back cross 1). Since we’re the only ones with the 81 skunk male from the original seeds (we’ve never let the male loose) were the only place to get 1979 FL Heirloom Slunk regular sex seeds. They’re a BXl so you will get phenos with some 81 skunk influence but the overwhelming majority are going to be heavy to the 79 skunk side.
We didn’t make a giant batch of them because we didn’t know how they’d turn out, so this is the first release. The same batch the Michigan facility said is a true 79 BX. We will be making more, but that takes time so for now what we have for this BX is what we have until we make a new batch. Being 84-88 days, if you want these, grab them!
