Perhaps the most famous and influential strain of all time, Acapulco Gold is a cultural icon.
This pure sativa landrace, with its golden hues and uplifting effects, is synonymous with the counterculture of the 1960s and 1970s. It was beloved as a source of inspiration by Jim Morrison of the Doors, called out in legendary live performances by Led Zeppelin, and immortalized in classic Cheech & Chong skits.
Acapulco Gold played a pivotal role in breeding, with strains like Skunk #1 and Haze tracing their lineage back to its genetics. Nowadays, there are many watered down versions of Acapulco Gold available that only carry the name and at best a hint of the original landrace’s characteristics. This one is the true, pure, long-flowering Mexican sativa.

Growth Characteristics:
Equatorial landraces like Acapulco Gold are adapted to minimal seasonal light changes (close to 12/12 year-round), so their photoperiod response is slower and more complex. For indoor growers, it should be noted that sudden light changes from 18/6 to 12/12 will sometimes cause the male plants to throw pistils for a few days at the start of flowering before fully expressing as male. Slowly transitioning from 18/6 to 12/12 (a half hour per day) or starting at 13/11 veg can avoid this stress response.
Our Acapulco Gold seeds are sun-grown in Southern California next to the Pacific Ocean in an environment not unlike the coastal hillsides of Acapulco where this strain originated. The result is a true-to-form expression of this pure sativa. These are tall plants with long, thin, narrow leaves, and elongated flowers. 12-16 weeks of flowering will produce a bountiful, highly aromatic, golden-hued harvest.
