Headband S1

My Prized Early 2000s Headband — Not Loompa’s, not 707, and not Notso’s cut. Also not the same as the 56-day Headband. This is a completely unique expression that leans more Sour Diesel in structure and vibe than classic OG.
I’ve been holding this cut longer than any other strain in my garden — over 20 years. I’m finally letting go of a very limited, hard-earned pack of feminized seeds. There probably won’t be many (if any) more after this one, as I have years’ worth of projects lined up.
This plant came to me in the very early 2000s labeled simply as “Headband.” No lineage, no backstory — just the cut. It’s been in my stable ever since. I’ve grown Loompa’s Headband, the 56-day cut, the 707, and several other named versions. This one is a completely different animal.
It’s Sour Diesel leaning in both structure and effect, carrying the full classic Sour Diesel terpene spectrum with a heavy old-school SKUNK backbone. The flower structure is noticeably better than most Sour D cuts I’ve run — buds stack nicely, neither too dense nor too airy.
While it doesn’t have flashy modern bag appeal, the smoke and flavor more than make up for it. This is that dangerous, old-school loud that made people fall in love with Diesel back in the day, with thick mouth coating sour flavor with a real skunk twist. One gram in your pocket and the whole room knows — it will straight-up murder carbon filters with its greasy, loud-as-hell profile.
Flowering time is a solid 10–11 weeks. The mother can be finicky and difficult, but most phenos are more forgiving than the original. The payoff is absolutely worth it for anyone who knows how to work with real old-school Sour genetics.
The mother shows mild variegation almost every run — something I’ve never seen in other Headband varieties. It’s a subtle but consistent trait that makes her feel like a true one-of-one mutation from the pre-flood era. With all the happy accidental breeding and bag seeds floating around back then, I’ll probably never know her exact origins.
Reversing her is a nightmare. She produces very little pollen, and much of it is sterile. I’ve only ever been able to pull a small handful of seeds total, even after serious effort. That’s why this pack may never exist again.
If you’re a serious collector, breeder, or someone who chases genuine old-school clone-only genetics that have been preserved for decades, this is a rare shot. I believe there are still some interesting things yet to be discovered in these S1s.
